Looking for a meaningful way to support students and help keep our school community safe? Lakewood School District is hiring dedicated individuals to serve as crossing guards.

One of the great things about this opportunity is the flexibility to work an AM shift, PM shift, or both, depending on your availability and the needs of the district.

Kujo the Cougar had so much fun cheering everyone on at the Back-to-School Resource and Wellness Fair last week! The Lakewood High School cougar mascot visited with the district’s SRO, played golf with the City of Marysville Recreation Department, tried to win a prize at the duck pond with Lakewood staff, and gave lots of high-fives!

Special thanks to our event partners, LINC Northwest and United Lakewood Coalition, and our volunteers, including LHS Volleyball and Lakewood staff members. In addition, LifeChurch360 provided food and backpacks, and Chartwells donated some icy treats to help keep everyone cool. Donations of backpacks and supplies also came in from: Amazon (Arlington), Burger King, Coastal Community Bank, Heritage Bank, LINC Northwest, Movement Mortgage, and free haircuts were provided from Hair by Mel.

Interest in the effects of smartphones, social media, and other technology on children and society has only increased since Jonathan Haidt’s book The Anxious Generation was published two years ago.

Thank you to Sno-Isle Libraries for bringing together a thoughtful panel to discuss this important topic on Aug. 10 at Lakewood High School.

The first week of August provided the perfect opportunity for district leaders to come together for three days to learn, collaborate, and prepare for the year ahead.

Guided by the theme "One District. One Direction," participants were organized into mountain teams: Rainier, Glacier Peak, Whitehorse, Three Fingers, Pilchuck and Baker. Throughout the retreat, staff collaborated on school and community partnership ideas, reviewed Portrait of a Graduate survey data, and examined progress on our Strategic Plan indicators to ensure our work remains focused on student success.
